Diving Similan Islands

Similan Islands one place in the world you do not want to miss. National Geographic plasimilan map 400pixced the Similan Islands as“One of the Top Ten Destinations to Visit in the World.” These amazing uninhabited islands are located of the West coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea – and easily accessible from Phuket for a day trip. The Similan Islands have something for everyone at every age: Amazing world class dive sites for Scuba Divers, Shallow tropical coral reefs for Snorkelers, powdery white sand for children to play in and deserted beaches for romantics. You can go for the day sightseeing and snorkelling on 4 of the 9 islands or do 2 amazing dives on a day trip. For the more adventurous there are overnight Liveaboards or longer.

Whale shark and manta ray sightings in Similans have been much talked about.  In the past years, several whale sharks were sighted at Richelieu Rock, Koh Tachai, Koh Bon and at Elephant Head Rock in the Similan Islands very early in the season. Sightings, though not in abundance have continued since then.

Manta Rays typically migrate through the region from January to March, yet several were sighted at Koh Bon and Koh Tachai in November and December period. Although it is not uncommon to see Manta Rays early in a season, sightings were usually brief with one individual being observed from a distance. Up to four Manta Rays have been spotted on a single dive at Koh Tachai with some interacting with divers.  Liveaboard tours remain the best choice to dive at these islands. There are well over 25 different sites here, spread over quite a large area and far from the mainland. So, to truly experience all that they have to offer at a relaxed pace, we strongly recommend you choose a liveaboard.
